Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – The Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach has received three thousand dollars ($3000.00) from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just in time to help feed local residents. The Community Kitchen will use the gift to continue to feed for free those who come to them because they are hungry. The Community Kitchen already this year, since May, has fed over 50,000 people a hot nutritious breakfast and / or lunch. The Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach has been in existence for over 23 years providing this needed service to our Community.
Deacon Peter M. Casamento, Executive Director said “The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation has been a partner with our Agency for years. Their financial support assists us greatly in allowing us to continue our mission in caring for those in need.”
The gift received from the Foundation will be utilized for the necessary food and feeding supplies needed to feed the approximately 400 – 500 people fed daily. The Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach receives no funding from the City, County, or State, and relies solely on individual, businesses, and Foundations like the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation for funding.
Established in 2001, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $9 million in grants.
