The Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach would like to thank Lowes Foods for the food drive conducted during the month of June each year. The “Bag Childhood Hunger” campaign ensures no child in our area goes hungry! This is an especially important time of year when food stocks are low and hunger remains a critical concern. Nearly half of the state’s one million residents younger than eighteen “lived in some officially measured degree of poverty” last year. It is Lowes Foods’ mission to meet the needs of children and their families during the months of summer when donations to soup kitchens and food pantries decline. When school is not in session, there are many children who eat with us at the Community Kitchen on a daily basis. The generous donations made possible by Lowes Foods and the local community are overwhelming and we are thankful for their partnership.
