Feeding Anyone Who Is Hungry

The Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach tradition for the past 27 years is to feed the hungry. We serve the working poor, our senior citizens, Veterans, children, the transients, and the homeless. Last year, 2018, we served over 101,019 guests without regard to the situation or condition. The meals and fellowship are provided at NO COST to our guests.


The Community Kitchen Inc. of Myrtle Beach is a non-profit  501(3)(c) organization.

Our Team

Our team is made up of an Executive Director, a Kitchen Manager/CHIP chef, and 80-100 very special volunteers. We advocate for those who need our help. Even a little help goes a long way. Our History

In 1992 several concerned citizens in Myrtle Beach decided to do something about the number of homeless and needy persons they saw on the streets. They started the Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach in the old Jaycee Hut, feeding about 30 persons daily. Today the Community Kitchen, which is located in the Community Assistance Center on Mr. Joe White Avenue, is serving between 400-450 hungry guests daily in our General Feeding Program. The hot, nutritious meals served each day are prepared and served cafeteria style by concerned volunteers. At present, the Community Kitchen has a paid staff of two: Executive Director, Sean A. Mazur, and our Kitchen Manager Lisa D. Greene.  The kitchen operates with approximately 80 – 100 volunteers per week. Breakfast and lunch is served five days a week, Monday through Friday. Our sources of funding include area churches, businesses, and individuals. We receive funding from the United Way of Horry County and various grants. We also receive support from numerous businesses, who provide financial support as well as food for the kitchen. These businesses include Publix’s, Food Lion, Lowe’s Food, Costco, and Kroger. We are grateful for each and every gift provided from our generous donors. Our mission, simply put, is to feed the hungry. We believe in order to serve as a positive healing force in the spirits and lives of those individuals in need, that we need to strive to provide encouragement, direction, and nutritional assistance, to promote growth and wholesome independence with dignity and respect. Every person who comes to us for assistance is welcomed, without regard to race, sex, age, color, national origin, religious preference, handicap or income. We tailor our services to the needs of our guests, whether chronic or temporary. Those who find themselves in a chronically poor circumstance typically lack effective support systems to overcome problems such as mental illness, substance abuse, physical disabilities, emotional instability, little or no education, and low self-esteem . With the continued support of businesses, individuals, and churches we hope to provide our guests with one of their basic needs as well as a warm smile and encouragement. As our homeless and working-poor citizens continue to grow, so do the needs of the only “soup kitchen” in Myrtle Beach. Your dollars help to minimize the tragedy of homelessness and hunger.
